I began my camping as a spare time activity just a few years ago. Initially, I was shocked by the cost of outdoor camping furniture. Even though it is possible to look for cheaper camping gear, somehow it is quite tough to come by. Camping gear outlet try to promote everything to you. These include trying to sell you the latest outdoor clothes, high-tech sleeping bags, synthetic thermal underwear or whatever they can think of. It does make sense . But, what I didn't know those item being promoted is only really necessary for difficult and advanced camping trips which falls under emergency survival supplies. If you understand what you really need and what you can make do without, my dear friend, you can save a lot of money. Thus, making wise purchases will definitely help you to enjoy your camping trip even more.

A good friend of mine who I called “serious outdoors guy” stated that the top two vital stuff for hiking trip are hiking and sleeping. This might sound obvious, yet, many people don't really follow it through to its conclusion. Let me describe further. You need outdoor camping equipment that helps you to hike and that helps you sleep. Meaning that a hiking trip starts with your boots. Hiking boots are vital. You shouldn't compromise any expense on your hiking boots. You need shoes that are heavy and padded enough, yet comfortable to walk in. You also need a comfortable sleeping bag. You can get cold at night – especially if you are up in the mountains. It is definite a worth investment in a good one. Here’s the advice. You are advised to look for a sleeping bag that is rated to 10° lower than you ever expect it to get.

Next, you need a great jacket. There are a lot of outdoor camping jacket that designed to keep you warm. A thermal jacket is a great investment as you can wear it when you are not camping as well. They are great-looking and well made. Most of them are getting more and more popular in urban areas. For your information, you don't needs serious outdoor shirts for every step of the day. What you need is to get one with a cotton T-shirt, khaki pants, and boxers or thermal underwear. You need not to buy those high-tech thermals either. Plain cotton ones work well except you are on an extremely tough and demanding trip. Though cotton doesn't really make the best outdoor camping stuff, it is fine for most role. Lastly, you need a good backpack. If you are just going for few days, you don't need to buy an uneconomical one. Any longer, however, and you'll be happy to have a good internal frame hiking outdoor camping backpack. If you need more solutions, you can always hop online for further research on camping checklist. Enjoy your camping.

Camping can be a great deal of fun; however even when having all that enjoyment you still need to do it safely. (...)

Camping can be a great deal of fun; however even when having all that enjoyment you still need to do it safely. Although chances are good that nothing will go wrong, you want to make sure that you are prepared if it does.

That is why you should abide by these tips for remaining safe while you are camping, even if you're bringing along an RV.

Safety First

First, you should never go camping without a complete first aid kit. It may seem insignificant if you get a tiny cut, but with all the dirt, leaves, and water you will be touching it is in your best interest to have at least a band-aid to cover it up.

You should also carry a first aid kit to help with any allergic reactions, such as bee stings. Bring antiseptic, pain relievers for everyday headaches, and even a snake bite kit if you are going somewhere that is rather remote.

Be Sure You have Essentials

When camping, carry your basic camping equipment, such as flashlights to get to the bathroom at night. Along with this, it is imperative to carry a hunting knife, a whistle in case you get lost, fire starter for the same reason, warm clothing, and food even if you do not plan to stay overnight. You never know when you might get a little off the beaten track and need extra essentials.

Checking the weather before you leave for your camping trip is extremely important. Even if there is just a slight chance of rain, you should be prepared with waterproof clothes and a tent, as well as waterproof matches to light a fire if you need it.

When you first get to the camp site, check around for potential hazards. That includes uneven terrain nearby that you may walk over at night when it is difficult to see, as well as any beehives in the vicinity of your camp site.

You also want to make a quick check for any poisonous plants that may be in the area in which you are sleeping so that you can avoid settling near them.

Once on the Campsite

Most campers eventually light a fire, and although camp sites usually have a specific fire pit for your use, make sure that it is safe. Keep all flammable objects - including dry leaves - well away from the fire, and don't allow your personal belongings to get any closer than 12 feet because of sparks that may jump out of the fire.

This includes your tent and clothes. And speaking of dangerous fire, you should never use candles or heating devices inside your tent at any time.

Lastly, you need to use common sense for your entire camping experience. Just because you are on vacation doesn't mean that you should take a vacation from safety! This includes disposing of your garbage in the proper bins since garbage can attract unwelcome animals that you simply do not want anywhere near you.

Don't panic if something negative does happen during your camping trip. As long as you are prepared for most typical camping dangers, you should be well positioned to handle it.

Are you looking for a fun and cheap vacation? Then camping can be the best choice. Camping is a great way for the whole family to chip in and participate. (...)

Are you looking for a fun and cheap vacation? Then camping can be the best choice. Camping is a great way for the whole family to chip in and participate. The kids can go catch fish for dinner, or help set up a tent. Camping only costs about $400 if you have camping gear, but if you need camping gear, then plan on spending at least $600 dollars more. But in any case you will save a lot and pay for a family of 4 for under $1,000 dollars.

There is so much to do when camping, like hiking, fishing, etc. Some camping grounds even offer swimming and show movies at night. Another great camping perk is watching the sunset or start glazing. Since most camp grounds are away from city lights, the stars will be amazing.

You need to plan a camping trip, like all other vacations. You firstly have to decide on shelter. Are you using a tent, a RV or a cabin? A tent would be the best for first time or light campers. Tents only cost between $60-$200 dollars. They provide protect against bugs and rain. A sleeping bag would be the next thing, you need to keep warm at night. Plus, taje care of a pad. Pads are soft and bring comfort to any camping trip.

Food is the major camping item. Depending on what your planning to eat, you can bring a variety of things. The most basic is a cooler and a bag of charcoal. Cooler for drinks and charcoal for a grill. You can make basic camping food such as steaks, ribs, hot dogs and hamburgers. If you plan on making dishes then you can bring a propane stove and a skillet. With it you can make a lot of stove-top meals.

It is good to plan a few months ahead to make your camping trip run smoother. It may not seem like that much goes into a camping trip, but after just figuring out what to bring, it begins to be over welling.

Figure out everything you're going to need and write it down. There's nothing worse then getting to the camping ground and realize you forgot to pack a tent.

A typical camping inventory

1. A tent. You can find tents in various sizes.

2. Sleeping bags and an air mattress.

3. Flashlights with extra batteries.

4. Matches

5. Because you'll be cooking on an open fire make sure that you bring some old cookware. You can also purchase camping cookware sets.

6. Firewood.

7. First aid kit.

8. Drinking water

9. Trash bags. Regardless of where you decide to go camping one of the most important things is that you leave the area just as he found it. Pick up your trash and take everything with you that you brought. Don't ruin the experience for the next person.

You can also look for an example of the inventory on a Coleman camp gear package. This is not an ultimate guide, but very helpful to understand what you need.

Camping can be a wonderful activity for the whole family. By taking a little time to prepare for the unexpected you will ensure a great time for your family.

Backpacking gear is essential whether you're planning a backpacking hiking trip or just a quick hike during the day. It's important to find the right gear for the right trip. (...)

Backpacking gear is essential whether you're planning a backpacking hiking trip or just a quick hike during the day. It's important to find the right gear for the right trip. To aid in this effort, be sure to bring your trip plans to the store with you. It will help a customer service rep to point you in the right direction. No matter what gear you buy, at any price, be sure it is of good quality. You'll appreciate it if you find yourself in a dire situation.

For short hikes you don't need as much equipment as you would for a longer hiking trip, such as backpacking your way across Europe. The chance of getting lost during any hike anywhere does exist though, so you should go out prepared no matter what. Of course, you will want a sturdy backpack to carry all the other backpacking equipment in. backpacking gear that is a must includes extra clothing and food, A compass, matches, a flashlight and a knife a water bottle, sunscreen, first-aid kit. These are the essentials for any trip into the great outdoors.

For any trip the same items are needed as for that a short day hike. But, if you're sleeping overnight, then you'll need additional backpacking gear. This includes a tent and sleeping bag compatible to the climate you'll be traveling in. Don't forget a map or GPS (Global Positioning System) device to help you find your way. Add to that some fire starter material and instruments for cooking food, along with any food you may want to bring with you on your trip.

One last backpacking gear item that may come in useful is a survival guide. It doesn't need to be a huge book, but even a pocket guide to help you when you're in a sticky situation. If you have a cell phone, then it's always a good idea to bring it with you even if you aren't sure they'll be adequate service available in the area you plan on hiking through. Many people have been rescued due to the signal given off by their cell phone. Before you head out make sure you head into an outdoors supply store and get good quality essentials for your trip. Remember to always bring good quality backpacking equipment whenever you head out for the great unknown.

There are many ways to enjoy the Grand Canyon, but a hike into the depths of this natural wonder is far and away the most impressive and most exciting way to get the maximum out of a visit. (...)

There are many ways to enjoy the Grand Canyon, but a hike into the depths of this natural wonder is far and away the most impressive and most exciting way to get the maximum out of a visit. This is the way it is for several reasons.

grand canyon hikes

First is that the Canyon is more than 5000 feet deep in most places, and so the geologic time that is represented by the layers of rock you descend through is literally phenomenal. As you drop down, you will think to yourself "a river cut this!!!" Sandstone, limestone, fossils, and native american artifacts create the geologic foundation of the Canyon.

Second is the fact that remaining on the rim you get a bird's eye view of everything but no real connection with the much of anything. Staying on the rim is only one step better than simply flying over the Canyon in an airplane. On the contrary, when you're hiking through it, you will have an intimate experience with the flora, fauna, the streams, the rivers, and the waterfalls of this truly phenomenal place. The best of the Canyon is beneath the rim: Phantom Ranch, Havasu Falls, Thunder Falls, Paradise Falls, Kaibab Creek, Horseshoe Mesa, Hermit Rapids…it goes on and on.

grand canyon day hikes

Third is that you will have solitude and peace and quiet in one of the most crowded national parks in the United States. While millions of people visit the Grand Canyon every summer, only thousands of visitors hike to the bottom over an entire year. The Canyon is a place of immense scale and profound natural beauty, and so hiking down in the Canyon is in many ways the only activity to truly enjoy the true nature of it.

Fourth is that it involves some authentic adventure. Many people also enjoy rafting, which is a great way to experience the Canyon. What hiking offers that rafting doesn’t is an adventure that involves the full spectrum of the experience - the amazing feeling of winding one’s way down, down, down through layers of rock and into the depths of the Canyon. Then the enjoyment of the Colorado River, and of course finally the hike back out. It’s extremely rewarding to complete a hike in and out of the Grand Canyon - and when you top out and treat yourself to a very nice dinner, massage, and a night of sleep, there’s no doubt you’ve earned it. You can live it up in style, knowing you’ve done what very few people ever do.

hike the grand canyon

If you’re inexperienced, it’s best to hire a tour company for an adventure like this. Don’t attempt it on your own if you don’t know what you’re doing - Grand Canyon National Park performs over 400 rescues per year, and the vast majority of those are overly ambitious hikers who try to do it on their own. There are several fantastic guide companies that will treat you like a king or queen on a trip like this, whether it’s a rim-to-rim or a down-and-back trip. Don’t wait to experience the depths of the Grand Canyon!

Most headaches are the tension variety and those that are debilitating in nature are usually migraine type. Relaxation techniques are generally the preferred method of treating headaches. Osteopathy is considered to be very useful in managing headaches. Individuals in a study that received 3 osteopathy treatments had more days without headaches than a control group that did relaxation exercises only.

Spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) can be effective in the treatment of tension headaches. There can be physical, psychological or pharmacological causes for headaches (triggers). An osteopath may first try to eliminate the specific triggers and use osteopathic manipulative treatment to intervene in the headache symptom and improve the well being of the patient. Common triggers of headaches are poor diet, lack of exercise, muscle tension and stress. Sometimes there is a physical factor such as a brain tumor but are rarely the cause for most of the headaches experienced.

Binoculars are one of the essentials when it comes birding. With binoculars you can identify birds easily that would be nothing but a speck on the horizon to the unaided eye. There are a number of different brands and styles that are available on the market ranging from a few dollars to thousands of dollars a pair depending on what you are looking for. Popular brands include Nikon and Swarovski. Nikon make many fine optic products and their birding binoculars are particularly good. Nikon binoculars are excellent for the early morning or dusk - times that most species of birds are quite active.

Magnification and Front Lens Diameter

The kind of standard binoculars you will find in any sporting goods or hardware store are just fine for basic bird watching. They are not expensive and will prove to be good value for money. Binoculars are always rated with two numbers. The first indicates the magnification power that the binoculars has. The second number indicates the front lens diameter. The best binoculars for birding also provide a wide view so that birds can be viewed in flight, as well as in a static situation.

Usually these are written in the following manner 7×23. This set of numbers indicates that the binoculars have a magnification of seven with a diameter of 23 millimeters on the front lens. The distance you intend to be away from the birds will determine what magnification power you will need. If you are planning to watch just around your neighborhood at birds that may be in trees or on the ground, then a lighter magnification will probably work. However, if you want to spend a lot of time watching birds interacting in their natural habitat where distance viewing is likely, you will need a stronger magnification to get the best from your bird watching.

Changing the Level of Magnification

There are birding binoculars that have just one level of magnification, these are usually the basic style that allow simply a slight amount of focusing. There are then the styles that allow you to be able to alter not only the focus of the lens but also the level of magnification, allowing you to adjust between objects that are closer and farther away without having to have additional sets of binoculars.

Make Sure Your Binoculars Are Not Too Heavy

When purchasing binoculars, check them out and make sure they are not too heavy. Some pairs are difficult to handle and holding them up for a long time can become tiresome, so this is something you should take into consideration. Many lightweight models exist today which offer all of the features of heavier models without the weight. After all, if you intend to carry them around with you whilst out on your adventures bird watching you do not want to be struggling with a heavy pair of binoculars.

There's nothing to spoil that dream bird watching trip like being unable to spend all the time you need admiring the birds you came to see like inconvenient, heavy equipment. You should also seek out birding binoculars which have a scratch resistant lens coating and some way of carrying them around other than around your neck or in your hand. After all, you want your binoculars to give you a clear view, yet be out of your way except when you are marveling at avian wildlife.

Are you one of those people who like me can't afford a vacation abroad? Or at least not as often as you'd like. (...)

Are you one of those people who like me can't afford a vacation abroad? Or at least not as often as you'd like. Fear not, there are some great alternatives and one of them is to go on a Camping Trip!
This will allow you to spend time in nature as well as discover new places.

safe camping
Camping can be great fun, but the basics are often overlooked. Follow these six essential camping tips and you're off to a good start!

Let someone know where you're going - An accident in the middle of nowhere can turn out really bad if nobody knows where you are, or that you're missing in the first place. “Jimmy wasn't at Karate today? He's probably out sick” - meanwhile Jimmy broke 2 legs in the middle of nowhere with no rescue in sight.

Water - Water, the building blocks of life. You would be surprised how many people tend to oversee the fact that a lot of campgrounds don't have running water (unless you consider a river running water). It is highly advisable to take at least 2 five-gallon containers with drinking water when spending more than a few days out in the outdoors. A few gallons will do if you're only going for 1 or 2 days.

Bring Food - Bring your own food as not every campsite has a store, some not even without an hour's driving range. Nuts, beef jerky, dried fruit, as well as high energy bars are your best choice because they are high in nutrients but light in weight. See the camping guide for beginners for more "what food to bring"-tips.

Mother Nature is unpredictable - The sky might be clear and temperatures might be comfortable today, but that can change overnight or even within hours. Before going on a camping trip, check the weather forecast. It would suck to have nasty weather ruin your camping trip wouldn't it?

Extra Clothes - If you've ever experienced hypothermia you know how terrible it is. You can get it very easily by running around in wet clothes. So bring extra clothes just in case you get caught in a storm. Don't forget to put your spare clothes in a WATERPROOF bag too.

These tips barely scratch the surface of a safe camping trip. You can find details as well as additional tips on camping safety, planning a camping trip, what to pack, what tent to bring on my camping-site.

#2 run your car on water - A type of hybrid car that was recently developed is the green vehicle which works on fuel or other energy source alternatives. (...)

#2 run your car on water - A type of hybrid car that was recently developed is the green vehicle which works on fuel or other energy source alternatives. There are two different types of cars falling under the green vehicle category. The first type is the electric-powered cars while the other one is the fuel cell-powered hydrogen cars. Even a conventional car can be changed to a green vehicle by using a different fuel alternative such as ethanol. The same things goes for diesel-powered vehicles, it can transition to biodiesel making it less expensive in terms of diesel consumption.

#3 run your car on water - The only concern with the manufacturing of Hybrid cars is the material needed to make these. The advanced electric motors and battery systems in the propulsion system of hybrid cars are usually made of dysprosium. Dysprosium is a rare element that came from China. This element appears metallic with bright silver luster on room temperature but dissolves easily when diluted or combined with concentrated mineral acids with the hydrogen being emitted.

#1 run your car on water - When you say hybrid car that means it uses two or more different power sources to propel or make it move. Believe it or not, the hybrid cars have been around for quite some time. The invention of the hybrid cars all started with Dr. Ferdinand Porsche in the year 1902. The first ever hybrid car was a Lohner-Porsche Petrol Electric called “Mixte”. It used a petrol engine that constantly rotates on a certain speed to drive the dynamo and keep the accumulators charged, meanwhile the accumulators become the source of electricity of the motor that is contained in the hubs of the front wheel. From 1902 to 1920 the hybrid cars became so popular that thousands were manufactured by companies such as Krieger, Auto-Mixte and Lohner-Porsche.

After this booming period for Hybrid cars, the entry of Ford in the car manufacturing industry, resulted in a considerable decline on the popularity of the hybrid cars. As a matter of fact, it was almost after a hundred years before the hybrid cars came out again. In 1997, the Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota, launched the Toyota Prius. However, before introducing the Toyota Prius to the Japanese market, thirty years of research and development was put into the making of the first hybrid car of the 21st century. Other hybrid cars produced after the Toyota Prius was the Toyota Sports 800.

In the year 2000, the hybrid car was reintroduced to the American market starting with the Toyota Prius, a year later the Honda Insight followed. With gas prices becoming increasingly high, it is inevitable that the hybrid cars would once again become popular. In fact, the demand for these cars was so high that it resulted in delivery waiting list for as long as a year, specially for Toyota Prius. It was really unexpected by analysts that the sales for hybrid cars went up to more than 80,000 in 2002. Some analysts have even forecasted that sales may go to more than 500,000 by the year 2008.

Every August, the Thunder of thunder sweeps through the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. This is no malestrom, though. No dark clouds darken the sky; no thunderous bolts of lightning strike the ground. A blinding glint of daylight on chrome and everything becomes clear – it's time for Sturgis!

Every year the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is held in the northwester Black Hills of South Dakota. Hundreds of thousands of bikers (600,000 was the number in 2000) ride through hills and arrive on the tiny town of Sturgis. This event has been held every year since 1938 and offers amazing enjoyment for HD enthusiasts and everyone else.

The area becomes a festival ground. Hundreds of vendors open up shop. There is food and drink, unique items, races, hill climbs and much more. A rally to Sturgis during August 4-10 will always be an eye opener. However, the rally is not without its family fun. Believe it or not, this rally is actually a exciting place to attend, family in tow - where else can you check out Sturgis Family Vacation.

Bikers can experience all different types of motorcycle fascination. There are IMAX films to enjoy, based, of course, on bikes. You'll also find a number of art exhibits, featuring bikes, bike parts and bike gear. The entire city takes on the feel of an enormous festival, with events scheduled from 8 a.m. in the morning all through nightfall every day. This fantastic occurrence was originally simply the meeting place for a motorcycle club. Over the past 68 years, it has changed enormously in popularity and participation. South Dakota Travel - A visit can be a great way to enjoy a trek in South Dakota.

Experience numerous saloons, enjoy incredible dining options (paper plates are a must!) and shop numerous vendors hawking everything from biker leathers to bracelets to seat cushions and more. A walk through this menagerie will yield some surprising treasures. This is an incredible event, even if you have modest interest in motorcycles or riding. While the rally is a spiritual meeting for likeminded motorcycle riders, it can be an incredible experience for anyone.
